Aix-en-Provence, France – 16 October 2026 – Blue Capsule Technology, a French company developing a high-temperature nuclear reactor for industrial heat, has been selected to join the 2026 French Tech 2030 cohort, an initiative led by Mission French Tech to support companies developing technologies of strategic importance to France's future.
Blue Capsule is among 80 companies selected for the 2026 cohort, which covers eight strategic technology categories, including energy and decarbonisation. The programme aims to support the growth of innovative French companies and accelerate the development of their technologies.
For Blue Capsule, this recognition reflects its ambition to bring reliable, affordable, low-carbon heat to energy-intensive industries, helping manufacturers decarbonise their processes while maintaining competitiveness.
“France has extraordinary nuclear expertise. Our ambition is to turn that expertise into a solution that meets concrete industrial needs,” said Edouard Hourcade, Co-founder and CEO of Blue Capsule Technology. “We are proud to join French Tech 2030 alongside so many innovative French companies. This recognition is a great boost for our team as we take the next steps towards demonstration.”
Delivering on this ambition requires strong industrial partnerships and a robust French and European supply chain.
Blue Capsule draws on technologies licensed from CEA and is working with Framatome on TRISO fuel qualification and the manufacturing of fuel elements for its reactor. These collaborations bring together French nuclear research and industrial expertise to support the development of a new generation of nuclear technologies.
A key milestone in this development programme is ELISE, Blue Capsule's full-scale, non-nuclear sodium experimental facility. Designed to test components, inform reactor engineering and help validate computational models, ELISE will help reduce technical uncertainties ahead of the company's future nuclear demonstrator. The first test campaign is planned for early 2027.
Joining French Tech 2030 represents an opportunity for Blue Capsule to accelerate its development, strengthen its visibility and connect with other innovative companies across the French technology ecosystem.
The company thanks Mission French Tech for this recognition, as well as its team and industrial partners, including CEA, Framatome, Egis, Mersen and CSTI Groupe, for their continued contribution to the project.
