Blue Capsule confirms collaboration with Veolia Nuclear Solutions on fuel handling machine

Blue Capsule Technology has again opted to work with one of Europe’s leading nuclear engineering teams, confirming a new partnership agreement with Veolia Nuclear Solutions (VNS).

The new agreement means that VNS will lead the design for our fuel handling machine – a system that’s vital for fast, continuous refuelling of our high-temperature reactor.

“Blue Capsule is driven by the idea of a truly European supply chain for our HTR,” said Blue Capsule CTO Alexey Lokhov.

“We know that working with companies such as Veolia Nuclear Solutions is a win-win. These partnerships can only boost the development of sovereign, European solutions in industry, and in the energy sector more broadly.”

Blue Capsule is designing an HTR for industrial end users that could be Europe’s only “tri-vector” energy solution at high temperatures – heat at 700°C, steam at 650°C, and electricity if needed.

That means nuclear heat at the service of energy-intensive industries such as cement, alumina, ammonia and soda ash, or even steelmaking and hydrogen production.

At this year’s World Nuclear Exhibition, Blue Capsule has re-iterated our commitment to a European supply chain in advanced nuclear, announcing partnerships with Framatome as well as Veolia Nuclear Solutions.
